Your cat

How do I pet my cat?

Press and hold anywhere on your cat. Eyes close, the purring starts, and little hearts float up. Tap the head for a head tilt, or try a slow blink back.

My cat looks hungry or grumpy. Are they okay?

They're fine. Cats in Purrfect Pal never get sick and never run away. The worst that happens is a little grumpy, and a meal or some play time sets things right again.

Can I put my cat to sleep?

Yes. Tap Sleep on the home screen. Your cat naps until you wake them, and the stats rest during sleep.

How do I change my cat's look or name?

Open Settings from the home screen and choose Edit. You can change the coat, eyes, accessories, theme and room at any time.

How many cats can I have?

Up to five. Adopt another from Settings, and switch between them from the row of faces at the top of the home screen.

Widgets

How do I add the widget?

Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the apps jiggle, tap Edit and then Add Widget (on some iPhones it's the + button), search for Purrfect Pal, pick a size and tap Add Widget. The app also shows these steps under Settings, Widgets. Lock Screen widgets are added from the Lock Screen's Customize screen.

Can I feed my cat from the widget?

Yes. The Feed button on the Home Screen widget works without opening the app.

Friends, gifts and cat cards

How do gifts and cat cards work?

Your cats live on your iPhone. To let a friend visit them, share a cat card from your cat's Settings. Your friend installs Purrfect Pal and opens the card link on their iPhone (or taps “I got a cat card from a friend” and pastes it), and your cat appears in their app. From there they can pick a gift, add a short note and send it back to you as a link in any messaging app. When you open it, the gift is waiting in your cat's room.

A phone either raises its own cats or follows a friend's cats. A cat card opened on a phone that already has its own cats asks you to send it to your friend instead.

Make sure Purrfect Pal is installed, then go back to the message, press and hold the link and choose to open it in Purrfect Pal. Gift links open on the phone where the cat lives.

Your data

Do I need an account? Does it work offline?

No account, ever, and everything works offline. Your cats and settings are stored only on your iPhone. See the privacy policy for the details.

Will my cats move to a new iPhone?

Your cats come along when you restore your new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup of the old one.

How do I say goodbye to a cat?

Open Settings for that cat and choose Say goodbye. You'll be asked to confirm first.
